Tips for the Career Fair!

Dress Professionally! Ideally you should wear a suit. If you don't have a suit, don't let that stop you from coming to the Career Fair. Women can also wear dress pants or a skirt and men can wear a shirt and tie.

Bring your résumé! The employers who are attending will want to look at your résumé while they speak with you. Have 10-15 copies of your résumé available to hand out. Print your résumé on nice résumé paper (you can purchase it at Staples or the Bookstore). Have your résumé edited by a friend or a Career Services person before clicking "print".

Talk to as many companies as possible! You never know what you'll learn when you talk to a company. Always keep your options open! Remember to shake their hand! This may seem like a small gesture, but it speaks volumes to the employer. Always shake their hand when you are introducing yourself, and shake their hand again when you are thanking them for their time (at the end of your conversation).

Ask for a business card! After you have had a conversation with the employer about their company, ask if they have a business card you can take. It's always important to get their contact information for future follow-up.

Have confidence! You are entering the professional world. Be confident in the education you've received at Curry and be ready to talk about your experience.
